HYUNDAI WILL SELL VEHICLES ON AMAZON IN 2024

A Hyundai spokesperson told Automotive News the program will begin with 18 dealers, with a broader rollout to follow in the second half of the year. 

The move is part of a collaboration between Hyundai and Amazon to bring innovative experiences to consumers. 

Hyundai Motor Co. CEO Jaehoon Chang said the partnership “unlocks incredible opportunities” for the automaker as it expands its lineup, grows the sales network and transitions to electrification. 

Hyundai will be the first auto manufacturer to use Amazon’s digital retailing tool to conduct the full end-to-end transaction. 

The automaker emphasized that its dealers would continue to play a role in online sales. Hyundai’s Amazon U.S. “store” will highlight the retailers’ inventory, easily connecting them with in-market buyers. Consumers also will be able to search local in-stock cars and crossovers by preference, including model, trim color, and features. 

Payment and financing options will be available during checkout. Based on availability, the new vehicle will be delivered to the buyer or available for pickup at the local dealership. 

The South Korean manufacturer is developing more digital tools for its products. In 2025, Amazon Alexa Built-In functionality to its vehicles. Drivers will be able to tap into music, podcasts, and audiobooks, set reminders, update to-do lists and check calendar items via the voice-activated platform. 

Alexa will also provide traffic and weather information and control the navigation system. 

Functionality will also extend to Hyundai drivers with connected homes, allowing them to set climate, lock doors or control lights. 

Certain Alexa features will continue to be accessible when internet connectivity is limited or unavailable.
